Amboseli National Park is the second most popular animal park after Maasai Mara.  It’s around  260km from Nairobi, on the border with the neighboring country of Tanzania. Its magnificently situated at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro and the combination of its excellent opportunities to view Kenya’s animals makes it one of the most-visited safari parks in Kenya.

The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”, and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands. They can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture.

My Amboseli experience was probably the shortest of all my travels. While in the park we visited Ol Tukai lodge .The lodge is amazing. It’s situated in the perfect spot, pretty much in the middle of the park with views of Mount Kilimanjaro and endless views of elephants roaming the plains right . Mt Kilimanjaro is a sight in itself as it slowly emerges from behind the clouds just before sunset. To wake up in the morning and step out into a different world from the one we were accustomed to was memorable.

The elephants are my favorite, you can see how excited i was on seeing them. If i am having a bad day all i need is taking a game drive and take a direction where i know i won’t miss them. They just have that effect on me.
